How do you measure the shape of the universe? Mikhael Gromov, Wolf Prize Laureate in Mathematics (1993), transformed how we understand geometry at its deepest levels. His revolutionary ideas in differential geometry revealed surprising connections between shapes, spaces, and algebraic structures, turning abstract math into powerful tools for solving real-world problems. By linking geometry with topology and developing entirely new mathematical “invariants,” Gromov gave researchers the ability to measure and compare complex spaces, even those that bend, stretch or curve. Gromov’s work reshaped entire fields of mathematics, and opened new paths for generations to come.
