Abiogenetic Origin of "Fossil" Fuels? According to the European Space Agency, Saturn's moon, Titan, has "hundreds of times more liquid hydrocarbons than all the known oil and natural gas reserves on Earth". As Titan evidently never had animal or plant life to have died and decomposed millions of years ago, clearly these "fossil fuels" are nothing of the sort, and were formed abiogenetically, i.e. not from organic matter.
